The brutal murder of Kavin Selvaganesh, an IT company employee belonging to a Scheduled Caste (SC) community, in what is alleged to be a caste hatred-driven killing in Tirunelveli on Sunday (July 27, 2025), has been transferred to the Crime Branch-CID (CB-CID) of the Tamil Nadu police for further investigation, said police sources.
Acting on a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother Tamil Selvi, a schoolteacher, the Palayamkottai police had registered a murder case and arrested the accused S. Surjith, 23.
