At least two people, including a New York City police officer, were shot on Monday in a midtown office building that houses some of the country’s top financial firms and the National Football League, a person familiar with the matter told Associated Press.
The person, who did not immediately know the victims’ conditions, was not authorised to publicly discuss the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity.
The Fire Department of New York said emergency crews were called to the Park Avenue office building on Monday evening for a report of someone shot. A spokesperson said the call came in at around 6.30pm but provided no other details. Police provided no additional information.
