A lorry that was carrying around 30 tonnes of wooden logs overturned on Chennai - Bengaluru Highway (NH 48) at Vettuvanam village near Pallikonda toll plaza in Vellore on Thursday.

Police said that lorry driver G. Nayagan, 34, a native of Ambur, was driving from Mangalore in Karnataka to Chennai with the consignment around 1.30 a.m. when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle and hit the sidewall of the bridge under construction on the stretch.
