Three persons were killed after a car hit two-wheelers in a road accident at Abdullapuram village near the airport complex in Vellore on Chennai - Bengaluru Highway (NH 48).The police said the deceased persons were identified as K. Anabazhagan, 68, a lorry driver, R. Subramani, 72, and S. Arunkumar, 22. They are residents of Vellore.Initial inquiry revealed that along with his family members, S. Karthi from Red Hills near Chennai, lost control of the car on the stretch.The police said the car hit two two-wheelers, which was reportedly coming on the wrong side of the stretch. Thereafter, the car plunged into a pit and hit a tree. All seven persons, including Karthik inside the car, escaped unhurt. The incident happened around 3 a.m.Passersby rescued the injured persons and admitted them to Government Medical College Hospital in Vellore. On being informed, Virinchipuram police inspected the spot. A case was registered. A probe is underway. Published - May 31, 2026 11:39 pm IST
