Any crisis, especially a war, invites an act of judgement, including the most recent war between Iran, Israel and the United States. In German-Jewish philosopher Hannah Arendt's sense of being much more than thinking, judgement is the act of evaluating a morally elusive and multi-faceted event. Judgement is the opposite of facile stereotypes, whether from the right or from the left. Now that a cease-fire has been declared, we may have the distance to judge the ways in which the progressive left has, once more, displayed its lack of understanding of the region.
