A police officer died in a road accident in Dharwad district on Saturday night.

Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police of the District Armed Reserve Yallappa Kumbar was going home on his bike when an unidentified vehicle hit him near Itagatti Cross. He bled to his death.

The police suspected that it is a case of hit-and-run. They are trying to trace the accused.

A case has been registered.
