A court imposed a penalty of ₹10,000 each on 16 motorists who were caught driving under the influence of alcohol in Chittoor on Tuesday. They were caught during a drunken drive check conducted by the Chittoor traffic inspector Satya Babu on Monday. Police said 1,601 violators have been caught for drunken driving since the past one-and-half year and the court had imposed a fine of ₹1.10 crore on them.
