Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni had a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump on Monday on the sidelines of the G7 summit before Trump left the meeting in Kananaskis, Canada, early.
"The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the most recent developments in Iran, reaffirming that it would be opportune to reopen negotiations," the Italian premier's office said.
"During the conversation, President (of the Council of Ministers) Meloni also stressed the need at this time to work towards reaching a ceasefire in Gaza.
"Lastly, the conversation also allowed President Meloni to confirm the importance of reaching an agreement in the EU-US trade negotiations and to address the prospects for the upcoming NATO Summit in The Hague".
