Abanner against Jeff Bezos's wedding in Venice at the end of this month was hung from a belltower in the lagoon city Thursday as protests at his reported "city centre buy-out" for the lavish nuptials with Lauren Sanchez gather pace.

The banner with the name "Bezos" covered by a red "X" was hung this morning from the bell tower of the Basilica of San Giorgio, on the island of the same name in Venice, by a group of activists protesting against the wedding of the owner of Amazon, scheduled for June 26-29 in the Lagoon.

"Venice is not for sale - the activists say in a note - it is not for rent, it is not the backdrop for the wedding of one of the richest men in the world.

"This is what Jeff Bezos would like to reduce it to, with the approval and total support of our corrupt administration".

In addition to today's "blitz", the protest movements have organized a meeting tomorrow afternoon in the Rialto Bridge area, for "a large common demonstration, but also many small protest initiatives, where every form of activation is welcome and where each of us can find our own way to say: No Space For Bezos".
