Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Wednesday that he is worried about the rise in anti-Semitism in Italy after Israel launched its war on Hamas in Gaza following the October 7 attacks.
"I would like to share here my strong concern about the resurgences of anti-Semitism that we are witnessing," Tajani said he reported to the Lower House on the situation in Gaza.
"Disgraceful episodes such as the placard hung in a shop in Milan cannot be written off as just a news item," he added, referring to a haberdashery that put up a sign in Hebrew saying 'Israelis not welcome'.
"Even (Life) Senator (and Holocaust Survivor) Liliana Segre has been subjected to incredible, aberrant anti-Semitic insults and all my solidarity goes to her.
"The Israeli government's actions cannot be blamed on Jews.
