Nicole Kidman has at least one unexpected habit that suggests celebrities really aren’t just like us.

The actor, who has graced our screens for decades, recently was honored at the Cannes Film Festival with Kering’s 10th Women in Motion Award. But beforehand, she sat with Variety to share a glimpse into her creative process.

Kidman revealed that she’s elevating her artistry by, quite simply, writing “stuff down a lot.” It’s a routine task, perhaps — but what sets it apart is the hour at which she practices it.

Rather than reaching for a notebook at a leisurely hour, Kidman finds herself writing during what most would consider the dead of night.

“I wake up and I’ll write something — be it a dream, be it something that’s circulating in my head, in my life, in my heart at that time,” she explained.
