Many of the world's leaders are "falling over themselves to get closer" to Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni, The Times said Tuesday.
'Crazy about Giorgia Meloni' was the headline with which the Times of London flagged on its front page an article by Rome correspondent Tom Kington dedicated to the welter of photos and images in which many international leaders appear very happy to be snapped with the Italian Prime Minister in friendly poses, all smiles and gallant gestures.
The phenomenon, Kington said, infects heads of state and government of different orientations, suggesting a widespread sensitivity not only towards the feminine charms of their Italian colleague, but also towards her ability to establish familiar relationships, her spontaneous attitude, her sense of humour.
And her "quick wit" (quoted in Italian as "battuta pronta").
As evidence of all this, the Times offered a series of recent and smiling images of greetings exchanged between Meloni and leaders such as Donald Trump, Keir Starmer and JD Vance, among others.
