MEA Secretary Sudhakar Dalela briefs on major takeaways from India-led 18th BRICS Summit 2026

India has outlined the key outcomes of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, with a strong focus on practical cooperation and the Global South. During the MEA briefing, officials said the summit’s open session centred on resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability. India stressed that solutions developed within BRICS should also be adaptable and accessible to developing economies. The briefing highlighted broad support for making BRICS practical, actionable and people-centric, while delivering results in health, food security, energy, digital public infrastructure and disaster resilience. India also highlighted more than 350 meetings across around 30 cities during its chairship. PM Narendra Modi concluded the summit by extending his best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping as China prepares to host BRICS in 2027.
