President Donald Trump escalated the trade war with Canada, ordering bans on alcohol and new tariffs on cheese and other goods.

Canada is rolling out a flurry of new tariffs on US goods on Tuesday morning, adding levies of up to 50% on items like dairy and steel.

President Trump invoked a 1930 law after Canada imposed new tariffs on U.S. goods, which followed his own recent tariffs in a widening trade war.

Ban comes after Canada imposed retaliatory tariffs on $20bn of US imports hours earlier
