In a bankruptcy claim filed in the United States on Wednesday, LIV Golf said it owed its players millions of dollars, including Australia’s Cameron Smith who is owed about $6.6 million.

It’s the latest move in the breakaway circuit’s fight for survival after the PIF of Saudi Arabia pulled funding.

As part of the proposed bankruptcy deal, the upstart golf venture is expected to be majority owned by its players.

Its planned 2027 return remains uncertain as stars weigh their options.
