Damaging winds and heavy rains from Hurricane Lowell are pelting Hawaii’s western islands

Hurricane Lowell and Tropical Storm Karina are not forecasted to make landfall but are bringing high surf impacts to the Hawaiian Islands over the holiday weekend.

Hurricane Lowell is forecast to turn northward and approach the islands of Kauaʻi and Niʻihau on Monday, the National Weather Service reported.

Isolated 16 inches of rain could produce flash floods, and could cause streams to overflow. Power outages and storm surge also possible.
