The King of England and the president of France this week visited the British Museum to view the Bayeux Tapestry, which is on display in the UK for the first time in nearly 1,000 years.

It is arguably the most famous date in English history: 1066 - the year of the Battle of Hastings, marking the start of the Norman Conquest and pivotal in England's development.
