US carmakers call for ‘permanent ban’ on Chinese vehicles over surveillance fears

Alliance CEO John Bozzella warned that Chinese cars are “capable of collecting, processing and transmitting sensitive vehicle and consumer data to the Chinese Communist Party.”U.S. lawmakers are considering legislation to restrict Chinese market access, including a Senate proposal targeting vehicle manufacturers with more than 15 per cent Chinese ownership.
