Nigeria's Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has warned South Africa against the continued dehumanisation and mistreatment of Nigerians and other African nationals in the country, saying Nigeria will no longer tolerate xenophobic and Afrophobic attacks against its citizens. Shettima said Nigeria would continue to engage South Africa through dialogue and peaceful diplomacy but would not remain silent whenever the safety and dignity of Nigerians were threatened.
