Shettima particularly recalled Nigeria’s contribution to the liberation struggles in Southern Africa, saying South Africans should remember the support they received from Nigeria during the struggle against apartheid and colonial rule.
Nigeria's Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has warned South Africa against the continued dehumanisation and mistreatment of Nigerians and other African nationals in the country, saying Nigeria will no longer tolerate xenophobic and Afrophobic attacks against its citizens.
Shettima said Nigeria would continue to engage South Africa through dialogue and peaceful diplomacy but would not remain silent whenever the safety and dignity of Nigerians were threatened.
The Vice President spoke in Luanda, Angola, on Sunday shortly before departing for Nigeria after representing President Bola Tinubu at the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU), a statement said on Monday.
