India mulling random drug test for commercial pilots at least once a year

India may require all commercial pilots to undergo random drug tests annually. This proposal follows an Air India captain testing positive for marijuana after an incident. The aviation regulator is consulting stakeholders on these proposed tighter testing rules. Safety and operational impacts are being carefully considered by the government. Current random testing covers at least ten percent of pilots each year.
