Two Mexican fishermen were found alive inside a giant cooler after being stranded at sea for five days. Daniel Guerrero Martinez, 53, and Jose Luis Portela Villegas, 32, were first reported missing on 14 August, after their fishing cooperative lost contact with them and sent out a distress call. Video footage shows rescuers approaching the men, who were found more than 240 kilometres from the coast. They can be seen clinging to the bright blue cooler before being helped aboard the Navy’s vessel. Naval medical personnel assessed the pair before they were transported by helicopter to a port for further medical treatment. They were later reunited with their families in Paredon.
