Americans are off to the races this weekend as the Freedom 250 Grand Prix begins for the first time in the nation’s capital.

More than one month after the Fourth of July, Donald Trump still isn’t done wasting taxpayer money on these celebrations.

The MPD has announced traffic closures and vehicle restrictions as officials prepare the downtown race circuit and implement security measures.

The Freedom 250 Grand Prix begins Saturday, Aug. 22, with a 1.7-mile, seven-turn street circuit winding through the nation’s capital.

The two-day motorsports event is completely free to visitors, with 100,000 tickets granted through a lottery system.
