Fans, drivers, and sponsors are putting the pedal to the metal for the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, held in the nation’s capital this weekend, Aug. 22-23.The two-day motorsports event is completely free to visitors, with 100,000 tickets granted through a lottery system.
A series of sponsors and partners made the event possible. The Air National Guard, Amazon, Boeing, Chevrolet, Delta, Honda, Metro, Shell, Robinhood, Splenda, United Airlines, and Verizon are listed, to name a few. The 1.7-mile, seven-turn course will wind through the streets of Washington, D.C., circling the National Mall. Practice and qualifying races will be held Saturday, leading up to Sunday’s iconic 147-lap, roughly 250-mile race. Street closures and parking restrictions will also be in effect for D.C. drivers, and much of the National Mall will be inaccessible.Sponsors Verizon, Gulfstream, and Delta even powered a special suite experience on the track. More than 70 luxury suites will surround the street circuit. The climate-controlled suites are complete with executive restrooms, enclosed elevators, extensive views, and premium food and beverage options.
