Officials say an Army Apache attack helicopter crashed in a central Texas field, killing both people on board and sparking a wildfire that forced several homes to be evacuated.

Two people are dead after a military helicopter crashed in a field in Central Texas on Wednesday afternoon, a sheriff’s official said.

The Bell County Sheriff’s Office said the AH-64 U.S. Army Apache attack helicopter, which is based at Fort Hood, crashed into a field.
