Ruckus in House; CAG reports on AAP tenure to be referred to PAC

Dramatic scenes unfolded in the Assembly on Tuesday, with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta citing findings from two Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports on “irregularities” during the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) tenure. She said her government has been spraying “pesticides” to improve the system infested by “termites”. Earlier in the day, several Opposition MLAs, who were sloganeering against the “rice scam” and demanding a debate over the alleged irregularities in the procurement and sale of subsidised rice meant for the poor, were marshalled out of the House. Ruling party MLAs accused AAP’s Kuldeep Kumar of throwing rice in the well of the House while he was being marshalled out.
