The Louisiana senator said he will indeed support Blanche’s nomination for attorney general hours after Lisa Murkowski said she would not.

The Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday advanced Todd Blanche's nomination for attorney general after it had been stalled there for weeks.

A pair of Republican senators moved the acting attorney general's nomination forward after securing assurances about a controversial Trump-backed “anti-weaponization” fund.

Murkowski's decision to oppose Blanche will likely delay the confirmation vote until after the Senate's August recess.

Cassidy's decision comes hours after Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) became the second Republican to announce she would vote "no" on Blanche.
