Iran said on Monday there were no talks under way with the United States and no plans for any meetings, contradicting US President Donald Trump who had cited talks he said would take place that afternoon as justification for calling off attacks.

The US president said he had been asked by Iran as well as US partners Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar to hold off on the new strikes.

US president said negotiations would start Monday, but offered no details on the location or participants.
