States can close or withdraw FIRs against students who participated in NEET protests: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court clarified that governments can withdraw FIRs against NEET protesters. This applies to students without grave criminal antecedents, as per the court's directive. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta confirmed the government's commitment to this policy. FIRs against over 2,700 individuals with serious offenses will not be withdrawn. The court will hear further arguments on August 18.
