In response to the catastrophic floods impacting Upper Assam, the state government has released interim relief for 75,000 affected families. The deluge has already claimed 85 lives as of Sunday, prompting Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to distribute the first installment of aid. More than 1.35 lakh citizens are currently affected across five districts, with 15,422 hectares of farmland submerged and rivers surpassing danger levels.
