Assam's flood situation is gradually improving, with many families returning home as waters recede. However, the death toll has risen to 82, while over two lakh people remain affected. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a recovery roadmap focusing on relief, rehabilitation, school repairs, livelihood restoration and infrastructure rebuilding. The state has released funds for damaged schools, Anganwadi centres and Naam Ghars, with a comprehensive damage assessment set to begin on August 7. Schools in flood-hit districts are expected to reopen by August 10, alongside support for students whose books and uniforms were damaged.
