The offences came to light in March 2024 when police raided his Legacy funeral home, discovering 31 bodies, including an unborn baby, stored improperly and in various states of decomposition, alongside ashes in mouldy boxes and strewn across the floor. Bush defrauded more than 220 people by selling them fraudulent funeral plans, pocketing over £500,000, and also stole money from 12 charities, including the Salvation Army and Macmillan Cancer Support, by not passing on donations. Many victims were given the wrong ashes for their loved ones, with some women receiving false ashes for their unborn babies, while others lost their savings due to the fraudulent funeral plans.An investigation into Bush's finances revealed he spent £42,000 on holidays, £21,000 on motorcycle racing, and £17,400 on home improvements over seven years while defrauding his customers.
