'Stop Building Flyovers Where There Is No Traffic' — Tinubu Tells Governors To Prioritise Security, Says No Ransom Paid For Oyo Schoolchildren

President Bola Tinubu has urged state governors across Nigeria to stop spending public funds on what he described as "unnecessary flyovers" in areas with little traffic and instead invest federal allocations in road infrastructure that would improve life and strengthen security. The president said state governments were now receiving between four and five times the allocations they previously received from the Federation Account and should channel the resources into projects that directly benefit citizens, particularly road networks.
