Taiwanese authorities have taken into custody an Nvidia employee as part of an investigation concerning the unlawful export of AI servers. These servers, which included Nvidia chips, fall under United States export restrictions established in 2022. This detention is linked to a wider investigation into the shipment of Super Micro AI servers to China, following the earlier arrests of three individuals for similar breaches of export laws.

Earlier this year, the U.S. Justice Department arrested the co-founder of AI server maker Super Micro for allegedly smuggling Nvidia’s advanced AI chips to China.

Taiwan’s Keelung prosecutors have detained an Nvidia employee in the widening probe into AI servers allegedly diverted to China.
