Construction on the bridge, named in honor of Canadian hockey legend Gordie Howe, commenced in 2018 and experienced delays, partly due to the global slowdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.The bridge features a dedicated multi-use path for pedestrians and cyclists to travel between the United States and Canada for free.
