India begins to China-proof its infra push after the TBM shock

India is accelerating efforts to localise mining and construction equipment manufacturing after Chinese export delays disrupted supplies of tunnel boring machines (TBMs) for key infrastructure projects. A proposed incentive scheme aims to reduce import dependence, strengthen supply chains, boost domestic manufacturing, expand exports and support India's ambitious infrastructure, mining and critical minerals development over the coming decades.
