The fires have forced the evacuation of more than 200,000 people

Spain has seen an estimated 500 square miles already burned this year, over four times the amount of terrain that was burned through the first half of 2025.

Raging wildfires have forced the evacuation of the whole of the Cap Ferret peninsula in southwest France, with hundreds of people escaping by boat.

More than 200,000 people have either fled or been ordered to remain indoors as massive wildfires swept across Spain and France on Friday.
