A two-time Ballon d’Or winner in 1978 and 1979, he earned 63 caps for England, scoring 21 goals and captaining the national team on 31 occasions. Keegan is widely celebrated for his managerial period at Newcastle United, where he guided the club from the second tier to the Premier League and achieved their best-ever second-place finish. His managerial career also included a 20-month spell as England manager and a brief return to Newcastle in 2008, which concluded due to a public dispute with the club's board.
