An area of low pressure in the northeast Gulf continues to show better organization and could become a tropical depression later Sunday or Monday.

Tropical Depression Two has formed in the northeastern Gulf and is expected to bring heavy rain and tropical storm-force gusts to the coast in the coming days.

The National Hurricane Center said a tropical depression formed as thunderstorms and rain increase along the Gulf Coast.

A tropical depression is drifting erratically in the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to gradually strengthen into a tropical storm that could threaten several states this week.
