Nearly 7,000 cases of cyclosporiasis have been reported across the country

Taco Bell and its franchisees have been sued at least three times in federal court this week over the cyclosporiasis outbreak.

Taco Bell removes lettuce supplier nationwide as CDC investigates a multistate Cyclospora outbreak linked to restaurants in five Midwestern states.

Upwards of 1,600 people who contracted cyclosporiasis reported eating at the chain beforehand, the CDC and FDA said.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recorded at least 1,645 cases of the parasite this year.

Michigan has reported the largest number of cases overall, with more than 4,300 illnesses and 102 hospitalizations.
