The CDC has confirmed 1,645 cyclosporiasis cases in the U.S. across 34 states, though it has said it is aware of over 5,000 cases that require testing to confirm them as domestic cyclosporiasis.

The parasite found in uncooked fresh produce contaminated with human feces has sickened thousands and hospitalized hundreds all over the U.S.

Cyclosporiasis has been reported in 31 states and has hospitalized 86 people as of July 9, according to statistics reported to the CDC.
