The Delhi cabinet has approved a bill that will penalise government officials up to Rs 5,000 for delaying or wrongfully rejecting citizen service applications. The proposed law, which replaces a 2011 act, also introduces fully digital application tracking and an automatic appeal mechanism that kicks in without citizens having to file separately.
