Sullenberger became famous over 17 years ago when he safely landed a US Airways plane in the Hudson River shortly after taking off from LaGuardia Airport.

Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, who famously landed a plane on the Hudson River in New York City in 2009, has revealed an Alzheimer's disease diagnosis.

The retired pilot said he hopes that by sharing the news of his diagnosis, “other families living in the shadows with this disease will feel they too can step forward.”
