What is the Index of Services Production and which sectors does it cover?

India's Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has launched a new monthly services production index. This experimental index, with 2024-25 as its base year, covers 19 formal services sub-sectors. The first release for April 2026 shows broad-based growth across most services categories.
