Lagos Government Blames Increase In Lagoon Water Level For Current Flooding

The Lagos State government has blamed the flooding being experienced in parts of the state on a significant increase in the water level of the Lagos lagoon, saying the development has disrupted the normal discharge of stormwater from drainage channels and caused temporary inundation of roads and streets. The state government said the lagoon water level has risen by approximately one metre, a situation it described as the major factor responsible for the flooding witnessed in several locations following recent rainfall.
