President Donald Trump said Sen. Lindsey Graham called him to discuss the SAVE America Act on Saturday.

Trump stumped for the SAVE America Act and ducked questions on Iran in interviews about Graham's passing.

The president also revealed he spoke with the senator just hours before his unexpected death at age 71.

Trump told host Jake Tapper during the phone interview that he wanted “to have CNN go on a normal path.”

The interview marked one of Trump’s relatively infrequent appearances on CNN, a network he has often criticized during his political career.

Graham, who spoke out against Trump only to become a close ally, died on Saturday after a medical episode
