Suspended doctor to seek bail after arrest over unsafe circumcisions

A 66-year-old man accused of performing unsafe medical circumcisions while posing as a doctor is expected to apply for bail on Monday after appearing in the Senwabarwana Magistrate's Court. Police allege the suspect, who was suspended by the Health Professions Council of South Africa in 2021, carried out procedures in unhygienic conditions, leaving several young men with septic wounds.
