Ukraine's drones, predominantly flown using Starlink, have been instrumental in hitting targets dozens of kilometres behind front lines, disrupting Russian supply lines, fuel storage, air-defence installations, and command centres. Russian countermeasures include sophisticated electronic jamming devices such as the 'Volna Kupol Garant' system, which can destabilise Starlink connections over an area of approximately 20 square kilometres, with around ten units detected. Ukrainian drone crews are actively targeting these jamming installations; for example, the 422nd regiment successfully struck two systems, demonstrating that their destruction allows Starlink-equipped drones to operate without interference. Beyond jamming, Russian forces are employing various tactics to protect military supplies, including hiding shipments in civilian vehicles, using small convoys, and concealing fuel in camouflaged dugouts and civilian petrol stations.
