Platner's allies want to ensure he isn't replaced on the ballot by Gov. Janet Mills.

Under Maine law, Platner has just one week — until next Monday — to remove his name from the ballot.

Platner has denied the allegation made public on Monday.

Platner has until July 13 to withdraw his bid to unseat Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), which would give the state party until July 27 to select a new nominee.
