TikTok has settled a lawsuit with a teenager just weeks before the company was set to go to trial in a second landmark case over whether social media companies are responsible for the harms their products might cause.

TikTok has reached a confidential settlement with a Florida teenager ahead of a July trial, following YouTube out of the second bellwether addiction case.

The case is part of litigation consolidating thousands of lawsuits alleging that several major social platforms used addictive designs that harmed young people’s mental health.
